Operations Engineer onboard memory and communications subsystem Sentinel2 mf The Mission Sentinel2 is an earth observation mission based on two low earth orbiting observation satellites to collect both land management with relevance toward agriculture, forestry, disaster control and humanitarian relief. The Challenge Terma is looking for an experienced systems engineer to support our customer, the European Space Operation Centre, with the commissioning of specific flight equipment, including preparatory activities. Primary responsibility lie in the areas of spacecraft operations engineering or, more specifically concerning Sentinel2s mass memory and formatting unit, Sband and Xband subsystems and will take over responsibility for commissioning of these units. In addition, the operations engineer Onboard memory and communications subsystem may be asked to support other tasks on the Sentinel2, or other missions. For instance Validation, test and operation of the mission control system Validation, test and operation of the simulator Generation, validation and maintenance of the flight operation procedures Support for test and operation of the NDIU Support for flight operation system procurement, integration and test Review of satellite documents Mission planning This is a full time position, located in Darmstadt, Germany, and is provisionally scheduled to start on 1st January 2015. Your Qualifications We seek a selfmotivated person, comfortable cooperating with others and equally able to independently toward seeing a problem through to solution. Essential skills are Knowledge of relevant spacecraft subsystems Ability to understand and accurately predict behavior of complex systems Ability to work independently and with little supervision Wellorganized, able to priorities and manage several activities in parallel Coordinate and interact with other service providers in operations and other fields. Fluency in English, both in speech and writing Desirable skills are Experience in working in an operational environment Familiarity with Packet Utilization Standard or other TMTC standards Familiarity with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS2000 Familiarity with operational simulators, especially the ones based on SimSat Familiarity with procedures life cycle Familiarity with Mission Planning tools Familiarity with low Earth orbit satellites Familiarity with multi satellite missions University degree in aerospace engineering, computer science or other relevant subject. The main tasks of the position will be MCS Mission Control System is one of the core subsystems in the Columbus project as this is the interface of the ground control team for TMTC to the Columbus module attached to ISS International Space Station. The MCS Subsystem Engineer is in charge with all activities related to the good functioning of MCS. This includes installing and configuring the software environment, maintaining the system up to date, supporting different activities on ground simulations, testing, etc. and troubleshooting possible problems within MCS or interfaced subsystems.
