LSE Space is looking for an experienced Spacecraft Operations Engineer mf in order to fulfill activities in the area of Payload, Data Handling and TTC Operations Preparation and Execution to support the Galileo FOC Operations Services in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany. The objective of the Spacecraft Operations Engineer is the preparation, validation and execution of operations related to the data handling, TTC and Payload subsystems. The main tasks of the position will be Flight Operations Procedures FOP preparation Writing of procedures Adapt procedures to new databases and procedures delivered by industry Definition of validation scenarios FOP validation, testing and result reporting Preparation of and participation in SVTs and simulations Test and validation of operational items like CSIM, ASW, OBD, SCCF, MOIS Participation in and provision of training spacecraft subsystems, Ops tools, Ops concepts Anomaly Reports handling writing, action processing, support of review boards Operations Support Support of routine, special and contingency operations during PF Commissioning, IOT and routine phase inclusive provision of shift and oncall support Provision of oncall service for the assigned subsystems during routine phase Offline analysis of the subsystem performance Qualifications Experience University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline Experience in spacecraft operations preparation and execution Additional skills required Systemminded and a team player Able to work in an interdisciplinary team Selfstarter, able to work independently with little or no supervision Fluent in English, both in speech and writing Work Location Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany Benefits A permanent employment contract. JOB DESCRIPTION Spacecraft Operations Engineer Responsibilities Duties Tasks General The Venus Express mission is currently extended until end of 2014, with a potential further extension into 2015 being considered. All platform and backup subsystems are in good health. All instruments are operational except for PFS that could not be operated since the beginning of the mission due to a shutter malfunction and VIRTIS which is affected by the end of life of the coolers, thus limiting its performance in the infrared spectrum. The mission is very dynamic in spite of being in routine phase with multiple special operations like the quadratures, solar conjunctions and lately the aerodrag experiments. The team is challenged with demanding tasks in the next years ground segment obsolescence migrations, operations automation an possibly preparing and implementing the first European aerobraking operations to be decided in June 2013.
