Vodafone CEO stresses 4G signal strength over speed
2015-01-12 14:40:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Vodafone UK does not see 4G as a race to have the highest speeds, but it's about having the strongest network, CEO Jeroen Hoencamp said in an interview on the operator's blog. "One of the things that makes us different from others is that we have our 'low band spectrum'. What that means is that our 4G is on a lower frequency, which travels further and deeper indoors. We could build a network just to achieve massive speeds," he says, "but the reality is that you don't currently need anything beyond 20Mbps on a mobile device. Even for streaming video you only need a couple of megabits per second." He explains that this is the thinking behind Vodafone UK's 4G entertainment packs, which come with a choice of Now TV Entertainment, Sky Sports Mobile TV or Spotify Premium. Vodafone's 4G network now covers half of the population, "but instead of just having 4G in the centre of a town and saying that the whole town has 4G, we don't say it's there until it's there. It's about us being able to prove that people are happy with it," Hoencamp says.

Noise Considerations In High Speed Converter Signal Chains
2014-12-18 14:41:25| rfglobalnet Home Page
Designing in high speed analog signal chains can be challenging because there are so many noise sources to consider. In this article, the most common outside noise sources are described, along with how they influence the total dynamic system performance of a high speed signal chain. The article also provides some analog and digital tricks that can be employed to further increase the signal-to-noise ratio in your next design.

Bipolar Isolated Signal Conditioner offers output load stability.
2014-12-18 14:31:00| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
Used for galvanic isolation and conversion of bipolar process voltage or current signals to unipolar signals, CE-compliant DRSL-DC4 comes in 0.24 in. wide slimline housing, has response time of <7 msec, and features DIN Rail mount design. Multiple signal ranges are available (DIP switch-selectable), and accuracy is <0.05% of selected range. Areas of use include applications in such industries as chemical, water/wastewater, and manufacturing automation.
