A zero-day Java vulnerability that affects all versions of the browser plug-in has been incorporated in popular exploit kits used by cyber criminals, security experts say. The exploits for the vulnerability have been implemented within the Blackhole, Cool and Nuclear Pack kits. The flaw affects all versions of the Java plug-in, including the latest Java 7 Update 10.

Java zero-day vulnerability actively exploited by attackers

An exploit for a previously unknown and currently unpatched vulnerability in Java is being used by cybercriminals to infect computers with malware, according to security researchers. An independent malware researcher who uses the online moniker Kafeine reported the existence of the exploit "in the wild" -- being actively used in attacks -- on his blog on Thursday.

A gang Symantec calls the Elderwood group appears to have found the latest zero-day vulnerability in IE, which can allow a malicious website to automatically infect a person's computer.
