Ofcom sets new phone-in call price rules from July
2015-04-28 09:51:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) UK communications regulator Ofcom has announced changes that will make it easier for consumers to understand the cost of entering phone-ins, competitions and votes on TV and radio programmes. The new rules come into effect on 1 July. The move is part of UK Calling, affecting 175 million phone numbers. Broadcasters often invite people to interact with shows in this way using phone numbers starting 084, 087 and 09. From 1 July, the cost of calling those numbers will be made up of two parts: an 'access charge' going to the caller's phone company, and a 'service charge' set by the broadcaster. All TV and radio programmes using the numbers will include the service charge for calling. Clear prices are important because the cost of interacting with programmes varies considerably. Some calls may cost a few pence, but others may cost more than GBP 2 per minute.

Optical System Sets New Standards in Oxygen Measurements
2015-04-27 18:06:00| Chemical Processing
Optical Dissolved Oxygen Measurement in Power and Boiler Applications Over the past decade a few trends have started to gain pace within the industry, driving a change in instrumentation requirements for operations managers and plant chemists: Maintenance and operations budget cuts have resulted in fewer plant personnel, forcing plant staff to optimize their workload even further As the cost of building new power and boiler systems increase, many operators now look to plant life extensions as a solution to bridge gaps in production capacity at a lower investment premium These trends have changed the requirements in these applications. Starting from these trends, this article analyzes the options for oxygen measurements that are precise, reliable, stable, and above all require low to zero maintenance. Download the white paper now.

CAD Software compares sets of 3D models.
2015-04-27 14:31:07| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
Dedicated to processing big sets of 3D CAD data, LGC v3.0 compares geometry of 3D parts and assemblies, comprehensively finding all differences between similar looking models, and then reporting variations. Users can find 3D models that share same geometry and topology, even when models are rotated and moved with respect to one other. By searching for duplicates, software removes excessive copies from parts libraries.
