Slabtown Sewer Replacement Project Update: September 19, 2017

Environmental Services will construct a sewer replacement project in the Slabtown district in northwest Portland. This project will replace and upsize about 8,400 feet (more than 1 and a half miles) of sewer main in streets, some of which are more than 125 years old and deteriorating due to age. They will repair pipes that connect properties to the sewer system, replace stormwater inlets and inlet pipes, and repair or replace more than 46 manholes throughout the project area.

Installing larger pipes will accommodate current and projected wastewater flows and make the sewer system more reliable. Construction crews will also repair laterals that connect properties to the sewer system, replace stormwater inlets and repair several manholes throughout the project area.
