VodafoneZiggo to look at selling towers infrastructure

(Telecompaper) VodafoneZiggo publishes the reference offer Wholesale Fixed Access, in accordance with the obligation that the ACM imposed on 27 September. This may lead in time to a new category of competitors on the Dutch market that make use of this wholesale offer. Rates have not yet been set and will follow in January.

VodafoneZiggo starts Docsis 3.1 tests with customers in Utrecht

(Telecompaper) Dutch operator VodafoneZiggo has confirmed the start of Docsis 3.1 tests in the Oog in AI neighbourhood in Utrecht. Around 20 premises, including homes and small businesses, will test the faster cable technology, ahead of a planned roll-out across the network by 2020.

VodafoneZiggo to start analogue TV switch-off in April

(Telecompaper) VodafoneZiggo, the biggest cable operator in the Netherlands, announced plans to end its analogue TV service in favour of all-digital services. The switch-off will start in April in the city of Capelle aan den IJssel and gradually roll out across the Netherlands over the course of two years. The freed up capacity will be used to increase internet speeds to up to 1 Gbps.

Dutch regulator proposes wholesale cable access on VodafoneZiggo network

(Telecompaper) The Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) wants to regulate the cable network of VodafoneZiggo for the first time. In a new analysis of the fixed market, the regulator said it wants to assure providers of TV, internet and telephony services that do not have their own network that they will have sufficient access to the consumer market at reasonable rates. At the moment, only KPN's copper network is open to wholesale access.
