The Columbus City Council and Mayor Kristen Brown have been at odds so frequently that it was refreshing to see them work together to achieve a solution that could provide additional benefits to the city. A compromise agreed upon at the June 2 council meeting stopped the city from heading down a slippery slope and still gave an auto dealer a means to achieve its goal of building a new dealership.

All are welcome to attend the Covington Community Prayer Breakfast on Friday, July 17. It will take place at St. Paul's Briggs Assembly Center at the corner of Jefferson Ave. and 12th St. The program will begin at 7 a.m. and end at 8:30 a.m. The Covington Bicentennial Prayer Breakfast of two years ago so impressed the Kiwanis Club that it has become an annual event. Special guests that will be attending include Mayor of Covington Mike Cooper; St.Tammany Parish President Pat Brister; Representative John Schroder; Covington Police Chief Tim Lentz; District Attorney Warren Montgomery; St. Tammany Parish Coroner Charles Preston; Kiwanis President Dan Johnson; plus other special guests.
