SOUTH EL MONTE >> A South El Monte man who killed his neighbor with a meat cleaver and wounded the neighbor's wife on Tuesday had not slept for three days and thought they were stealing his Wi-Fi connection, an investigator said. Two deputies shot and killed 32-year-old Khong Kien Ma after he refused orders to drop the meat cleaver and charged towards them.

Garden centres urged drop bug killer to protect bees

Guardian: Garden centres are being urged to withdraw products which contain a type of pesticide linked to bee declines. In its latest product guide, Ethical Consumer magazine said that nine of the UKs leading garden centres including B&Q and Homebase were selling Provado Ultimate Bug Killer which contains a neonicotinoid chemical known as thiacloprid.
