Source: U.S Drought Monitor Hot, dry weather in the Midwest and South led to incremental increases in drought on the Sept. 10 U.S. Drought Monitor map. The proportion of the contiguous United States in moderate drought or worse increased to 50.69%, from 50.09% a week earlier. The areas in severe and extreme drought had similar small increases, and exceptional drought remained unchanged. Kenya water discovery brings hope for drought relief in rural north

Guardian: Two vast underground aquifers, storing billions of litres of water, have been discovered in the poorest and least developed area of Kenya. The finds, in Turkana county in the north west, were uncovered using new technology to interpret ground-penetrating radar from satellites.
