Samsung claims first with SRVCC launch in Korea

2013-09-09 13:43:00| Telecompaper Headlines

Samsung said it's the first to make the service commercially available, starting with customers in Korea using mobile devices with the Samsung Modem Chipset SHANNON222. SRVCC supports voice call handover from packet-switched Voice over LTE (VoLTE) to circuit-switched 3G voice (WCDMA) when users are out of LTE coverage areas. Without this service, the VoLTE call is automatically dropped when the user leaves LTE coverage. The SRVCC service is available on the Galaxy S4 LTE smartphone as of August in Korea.
