Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc has arranged financing for a potential bid for bowel-drug maker Salix Pharmaceuticals Ltd , Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter. The acquisitive Canadian drugmaker will likely bid more than $150 per share for the company, Bloomberg said, quoting one of those people.

International Airlines Group boss Willie Walsh is 'nowhere near' walking away from his bid for Aer Lingus and believes the Irish government is still open to the deal despite mounting political opposition. Walsh has also dismissed talk of mass job cuts at Aer Lingus if IAG - formed by a merger of British Airways and Iberia - successfully wins its A 1billion bid for the carrier.

Japan's Canon to launch $2.8 bn bid to buy Sweden's Axis

Japan's Canon said Tuesday it would launch a tender offer to buy all outstanding shares in Axis AB, a Swedish network video solutions company, for about $2.8 billion next month. The Japanese camera and copier maker said in a statement that funds required for the purchase would reach 23.6 billion Swedish krona, or about 333.7 billion yen .

The owner of British Airways is running out of time to secure Ireland's Aer Lingus as questions over its commitment to keep jobs and key Heathrow routes stoke opposition from politicians facing a tough election next year. Aer Lingus' board recommended the 1.36 billion euro offer from International Consolidated Airlines Group last month, subject to the agreement of the Irish state to sell its 25 percent holding.
