ANSI Member SCTE announces addition of 2 new members.

ANSI member and accredited standards developer Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) announced 2 staff additions. Deighton Liverpool, former CIO of Association of Village Council Presidents in Alaska, was named SCTE's VP of information technology. As SCTE's new director of network and technical operations, Niem Dang will be based primarily in Louisville, CO as SCTE visiting engineer to CableLabs. Ms. Dang brings 10 years of experience with Comcast and Time Warner Cable.

Members encourage Wisconsin's Ryan to run for speaker

House Republicans are waiting on Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI) to determine if he is willing to be the next Speaker of the House of Representatives. He is the only Republican that seems to be able to garner the support of mainstream Republicans and Tea Party members. So far, he has said he is not interested, but members continue to urge him to run. If he refuses to run, there is no consensus on an alternative at this time.

PTDA welcomes six new members.

PTDA, the leading association for the industrial power transmission/motion control distribution channel, recently welcomed 6 new member companies. Distributor Members include C.E.M. Supply Inc. of Coldwater, MI; Exim Engineering Inc. of Anaheim, CA; and Malloy of Sioux Falls, SD. Manufacturer Members include Delta Products of Durham, NC and Syntron Material Handling, LLC of Saltillo, MS. In addition, supplyFORCE of King of Prussia, PA has joined PTDA as an Associate Member.

Second Circuit Finds Member Associations Have Standing to Bring Claims on Behalf of Members

Last month the Second Circuit Court of Appeals reversed the U.S. District Court's decision to deny the New York State Psychiatric Association standing in its claim against UnitedHealth Group and related entities . In doing so, the court opened the doors for member associations to bring claims on behalf of its members for violations of federal law.
