A year of extremes: severe snow storms, drought and floods ravaged US in 2015
2015-12-27 05:43:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Guardian: 2015 has been the warmest year, globally, on record, with the lower 48 states of the US experiencing their balmiest autumn ever measured. This kind of exceptional heat provided an appropriate setting for the Paris climate summit, where 196 nations agreed to curb greenhouse gas emissions to avoid the sort of dangerous climate change that contributes to floods, drought and damaging sea level rises. But the past year has also seen a number of severe natural disasters, climate change-fueled or...

China had warned residents across a large part of its north on Friday to prepare for a wave of severe smog arriving over the weekend, the worst of which would hit Beijing, prompting the capital to issue its second ever "red alert". A red alert is triggered when the...

Reuters: China warned residents across a large part of its north on Friday to prepare for a wave of choking smog arriving over the weekend, the worst of which is expected over Beijing, prompting the capital to issue its second ever "red alert". The National Meteorological Centre said the smog would stretch from Xian, home to the world-famous Terracotta Warriors, across part of central China, through Beijing and up into Shenyang and Harbin in the frigid northeast.
