Materials and Processes Laboratory Technician Key Tasks and Responsibilities As part of the Materials Processes Section, you will have the following responsibilities Perform all measurements and analyses on metallic as well as nonmetallic materials on a variety of nondestructive test tools. Including the issuing of dedicated testing procedures and documentation development as well as inclusion of test requests and test results in the relevant quality management systems and databases Set up and operate analysis tools devoted to the assessment of space environmental effects. Including assessment by simulating the space environment vacuum, radiation, ATOX, contamination, thermal, etc. as well as prepost characterisation by analytical techniques Perform mechanical and thermomechanical testing including static, fatigue, Nano indentation, Nano scratch, low speed impact, hardness testing, also using contact and contact less insitu strain measurement systems strain gaugesARAMIS Perform all thermal analysis on materials including thermogravimetric, differential scanning calorimetry, thermomechanical as well as dynamic mechanical analysis, dielectric analysis, CTE determination, thermal diffusivityconductivity analysis as well as coupled and advanced thermal modelling techniques for physicochemical analysis. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience Proven handson experience in Nondestructive investigation such as Xray tomography, XRD Static, dynamic and thermomechanical characterisation of materials and Failure investigations and root cause analysis Solid background in materials engineering, including metallurgy, polymer composites, adhesives, ceramics and glasses Proven understanding and knowledge of analytical techniques for materials analysis and ability to carry them out in compliance to an ISO 17025 or other Quality Management System applicable standards Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. Perform all corrosion characterisation testing, including but not limited to stresscorrosion, galvanic, redplague, general corrosion, humiditysalt fog testing, etc. Perform all verification activities on Printed Circuit Boards and electronics assemblies. Recording sample properties or condition during and after test, accurately and legibly. Draft relevant test reports for all performed test activities. Checking on test equipment performance and reporting any anomalies or faults. Improving test procedures and ensuring that these are executed correctly. Maintenance of the relevant test equipment, ensuring that the equipment under your responsibility is kept in an operational state and all necessary routine calibration and maintenance activities are performed. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory You have a Technical Degree Bsc., Diploma or equivalent from a recognised Institution or equivalent. You have at least 4 years of relevant work experience.
