Kimberlee Payton-Jones Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon and lawmakers agree that the state’s public colleges and universities need increased funding, but they disagree on how the funding should be allocated. Gov. Nixon has allocated $120 million of the 2015 budget to the state’s institutions of higher learning. Nixon proposes that one-third of that be allocated as a “performance-based increase to the institutions' core budgets,” according to the Associated Press. read more

Uni Missouri Researcher Looking to Reduce Hog Odour

US - A University of Missouri Extension assistant professor of agricultural systems management is researching ways to reduce that odour. Through funding from the MU College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, Teng Lim is working with biofilters to reduce the odour, dust and gas emissions from typical swine operations.

Missouri Farmers Care Raise Funds to Preserve Farming Rights

Source: Missouri Farmers Care A farming coalition in Missouri has raised funds to help secure farmer’s rights in the state. Missouri Farmers Care, a coalition of more than 40 agriculture organizations in the state, announced Thursday that they raised $197,119 in the final three months of 2013. These funds will be used to help pass Constitutional Amendment 1, the Missouri Farming Rights Amendment, in 2014. read more
