Software Engineer for Mission Planning Support 1313039 Job Description The work involves maintenance and development activities. The Mission Planning Facility is used at present in routine operations phases for the EPS programme, it will be used in the future mission Copernicus Sentinel3, and it might also be used in other future missions such as EPS Second Generation EPSSG. The key person shall work as a member of the Mission Control Applications and Tools Team, which performs the following activities Software engineering and software maintenance of multimission and missionspecific Mission Control Function systems and tools for GEO and LEO missions. In particular the following systems and tools Monitoring and Control Systems and tools. Onboard software management tools. Flight Dynamics Facilities. Mission Planning Facilities. OpsPrep Facilities. Data analysis and reporting tools. Implementation of prototypes, technology research tools and operational tools in the area of MC. Study the different approaches for the longterm maintainability of the mission control facilities. Software engineering for the reusage of Mission Control Function systems and tools with the separation between generic kernel and missionspecific extensions. Automation of application software testing. Software engineering and software maintenance of satellite simulators. Software support to operations. Technical Management Documentation generation and updates of technical documents. Routine reporting preparation and production of routine reports as necessary. Meeting participation participation to technical, progress and team meetings as needed and requested. Contractor management at technical level support for the technical management of the external contractors including supporting technical discussions, review of technical documentation from the contractor, organizing periodical technical meetings with the contractor. Software Maintenance Activities Preventive and corrective maintenance including the investigation and correction or following the corrections implemented by external contractors of anomalies in the software facilities and verification testing of the fixes. Evolutions and changes generation and analysis of userdriven and maintenance driven software requirements, design, following procurement of the changes with external contractors and verification testing of the changes. Maintenance test procedures generation and updates of maintenance test procedures at software facility level and at system level, development andor procurement of scripts tools to perform installation checks, nonregression, functional and performance testing. Automatic verification testing analysis and implementation of mechanisms allowing the automatic or semiautomatic verification testing of the software facilities. Installation and verification testing of new software releases or patches preparation and participation to infactory at contractor premises acceptance testing campaigns, coordination of the installation of new releases or patches onsite and running the onsite verification testing at facility and system level. Software engineering methodology Analysis activities focused on a common software engineering methodology and common software engineering tools for the GSI Mission Control Applications and Tools Team. Development of tools supporting these common software engineering methodologies. User Support Software support software support to the endusers of the application software. Training prepare and provide training covering endusage and maintenance aspects of the mission control facilities. Required Skills and Experience University degree in a relevant engineering discipline. Significant knowledge and experience in the area of software development. Extensive experience minimum 5 years in software development and maintenance using a formal life cycle resulting in deliveries to customers. This includes production of requirements, design engineering artefacts and implementation reflecting corrective and evolutive software maintenance activities as well as new applications definition. Extensive experience minimum 5 years in AssemblyIntegrationVerification AIV related activities test procedure generation, nonregression testing, requirements verification and validation. Extensive experience minimum 5 years in designing and developing software components and applications using Object Oriented OO approach including design patterns. Relevant experience in the usage of software CASE design tools. Extensive experience minimum 5 years in designing and developing software. Experience minimum 3 years in designing and developing software applications. Extensive experience minimum 5 years in designing and developing software. Extensive experience minimum 5 years in developing software applications using interfaces to relational database management systems RDBMS and experience with RDBMS engineering. Very good knowledge of MS Windows Office Suite applications and experience with documentation management systems. The key person shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work calmly and and correctly under stress and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision.
