Oil slide slashes first-quarter profit, not investment plans at Saudi's SABIC

Saudi Basic Industries Corp faces heavy pressure on its profits due to cheap oil but will keep investing globally to boost capacity in key areas, its acting chief executive said on Sunday after the company reported a 39 plunge in first-quarter profit. SABIC 2010.SE, one of the world's largest petrochemicals groups and Saudi Arabia's biggest listed firm, said net profit sank to 3.93 billion riyals in the three months to March 31 from 6.44 billion riyals a year earlier.

Publix confirms plans for a third Triangle location

A Georgia shopping center developer has paid $3.5 million for 19 acres of land in the Heritage community in Wake Forest where construction is slated to start soon for a new grocery-anchored shopping center. A spokesperson for Publix Super Markets , a Lakeland, Florida-based grocery chain that has been expanding into North Carolina the past couple of years, has confirmed that Publix has signed a lease contract to anchor the new center, called Shoppes at Heritage Village.

Reuters: Plans by 34 nations for fighting climate change beyond 2020 would leave the world on track for warming well above the limits agreed with the U.N., and Moscow's strategy is especially weak because it lets Russia's greenhouse gas emissions rise, experts said on Friday. The United States, the 28-nation European Union, Russia, Mexico, Switzerland, Norway and Gabon have so far submitted strategies to the United Nations, meant as the building blocks of a global deal to be agreed in December at a summit...
