Based on the Ivy Bridge platform, this new-for-2013 chip clocks between 1.7GHz and 2.7GHz, offering most of the performance of pricier Core i5 models at a Core i3 price.

We weren't sure what 2013 would hold for computer deals, but it looks to be starting out nicely. Dell introduced a refreshed Inspiron 15R (model 5521) with a slightly tweaked design and even more competitive price points. This deal is one of the lowest offers we have seen on any Core i7 laptop and the lowest price yet on this new model.

Dell's Inspiron 15R Special Edition is a premium machine, from its black anodized aluminum chassis to upgraded performance parts. You start with an Ivy Bridge Core i5-3210M processor, but what really puts other $549 laptops to shame is its Radeon HD 7730M (2GB) dedicated graphics. The 6GB of DDR3 RAM and 750GB hard drive are nice additions as well.
