FDA approves Pfizer drug to treat breast cancer in postmenopausal women

U.S. federal health regulators on Tuesday approved a highly anticipated medicine from Pfizer Inc. to treat postmenopausal women with a certain type of advanced breast cancer who have not already taken other drugs. The Food and Drug Administration approved Ibrance for women who have tumors that do not contain a protein known as HER-2.

Immuron begins patient recruitment for Phase 2 clinical trial of IMM-124E NASH drug candidate

Australian biopharmaceutical company Immuron Limited has today announced a significant milestone in its Phase 2 clinical trial for non-alcoholic steatohepatitis with the recruitment of its first two patients at Duke University in the United States. It is expected that further recruitment at Duke and other sites in the US and Australia will follow in early course.

Swiss drug maker Novartis posts Q4 profit drop

Swiss pharmaceutical giant Novartis AG says fourth quarter net income dropped 26 percent but the company still posted a healthy 2014 annual profit. The Basel, Switzerland-based company said Tuesday that fourth quarter net income came in at $1.49 billion, down from $2 billion in the same quarter the year before excluding its blood-transfusion diagnostics unit, which it sold in 2013.
