Your Inventory Integrity is all about a system: If a part is not where its supposed to be, youre wasting timebleeding money, and lots of itjust looking for it. With thousands of parts and maybe millions of dollars invested in parts inventory, if you cant find what you need promptly, you have a system breakdown. A well-run parts department has a well-run system. What are the basics of a Dealer Parts Department that is well managed? On a regular basis, update your phase-in, phase-out criteria, restocking points, and lost sales, ensuring the DMS system is made aware of the demand for a particular part number. Beyond the basics, you have to physically make sure that what the system says you should have on the shelf is there. So you need to do cycle counts, no-bin checks, zero on-hand counts, negative on-hand counts and perform these activities every day.
