Employees from an array of RV manufacturers, including Forest River Inc., Newmar Corp. and Livin' Lite along with suppliers such as Patrick Industries Inc., and Ascot Enterprises Inc. have been working in shifts with thousands of area volunteers - approximately 7,500 total - in the gymnasium of Nappanee Missionary Church to package 2.3 million meals for needy youngsters throughout the world. A total of about 180 employees from Newmar and 450 from several Forest River divisions were among the biggest participants, working in shifts of up to 400 in packaging the dry meals which consist of dehydrated vegetables, soy nuggets, vitamins and rice that can be heated up before serving.
