Our client, based near Frankfurt in Germany, is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. One of their objectives is to contribute to the operational monitoring of the climate and the detection of global climate changes. They are seeking Mission Planning Engineering consultancy support to their operational low earth orbit LEO missions as well as preparation support for future missions. The planning consultant shall perform tasks related to all aspects of mission planning and should have at least 3 years experience of LEO spacecraft and ground segment system operations. The Consultant shall have the following mandatory skills and experience At least 3 years of routine mission planning operations At least 3 years experience in the production and maintenance of mission planning operational rules using a Javalike Business Rules Management System e.g. JBoss Drools or ILOG Rules At least 2 years of working with files in XML format Experience in the operational validation of mission planning software systems Experience with Software Version Control Systems e.g. CVS, SVN or Git and Software Configuration Management Systems e.g. Serena Dimensions. Your Tasks Include The Key person shall report to the Associate Director for LEO ProgrammesHead of the LEO Division and liaise with the LEO management team. Overall the Key person shall support the LEO management in the preparation of generic management and development plans and structures e.g. Work breakdown structure, Product tree, Documentation tree taking into account the existing information and implementing lessons learnt from the past EPS, Jason and Sentinel3 mission development. Your Tasks Include The consultant will be integrated into the Data Processing Team of the MTG Ground Segment. The overarching task of the consultant will be to support the procurement activities for the MTG L0, L1 and L2 data processing facilities, primarily by developing and consolidating the knowledge needed to acquire the mission data processing functionality for online and offline functions, including functionality providing common services, such as data handling, processor allocation and monitoring, job control, and general MC, and by supporting the technical interface to industrial consortia.
