Passive Intermodulation (PIM) In In-Building Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS)
2015-09-08 12:47:43| rfglobalnet Home Page
The probability of harmful passive intermodulation (PIM) increases when mobile operators upgrade their existing in-building distributed antenna systems (DAS). Operators are able to reduce PIM interference and maximize site performance by using meticulous construction techniques with low PIM components. This application note discusses insertion loss calculations, and the impact of insertion loss on PIM performance in DAS.

Operating up to 3 or 6 GHz, depending on configuration, RF Cable Assemblies exhibit PIM performance of -160 dBc and 1.25:1 VSWR. Most assemblies are built using formable 0.141 or 0.250 low PIM coax, but ½ in. flexible and superflexible low PIM coax are also available. RF Adapters, offering PIM performance from -150 to -168 dBc, operate up to 8 GHz with VSWR of 1.25:1. Available in 50 W and 100 W versions, RF Loads operate up to 2.7 GHz. Terminations have PIM rating of -168 dBc.

Millimeter-wave Intermodulation Distortion (IMD) Measurements
2014-10-09 16:01:12| rfglobalnet Downloads
This application note discusses the complications encountered in IMD measurements (set up complexity and hardware availability being the two main issues), and how Anritsu’s ME7838A family of broadband vector network analyzers (VNAs) can be used to make millimeter-wave measurements easier and more streamlined.
