Hilcorp Energy is continuing its aggressive push into Alaska's oil and gas industry, recently inking a deal to buy the Cook Inlet assets of an Exxon Mobil subsidiary. Hilcorp, based in Houston, Texas, plans to purchase two offshore platforms from XTO Energy as well as a tank facility and offices in Nikiski on the Kenai Peninsula, said Lori Nelson, external affairs manager at Hilcorp Alaska.

Exxon Mobil Corp has ended its oil exploration in Madagascar after disappointing findings in its off-shore blocks, the Malagasy Mining and Petroleum Minister said on Friday. Exxon's affiliates resumed exploration in Madagascar in 2013 after a four-year pause due to a force majeure declared after the 2009 coup on the Indian Ocean island.
