Guardian: We are reaching le pointy end of the Paris climate change negotiations and a freshly prepared draft for a new global deal has just been released. With less than 72 hours of scheduled negotiating time left, this is officially squeaky-bum time for the 40,000 or so negotiators, delegates, observers, civil society groups, campaigners, activists and media filling the vast plywood and plastic regaled halls and corridors of the cavernous Le Bourget venue. One of the key decisions at the talks will...

Reuters: After 11 days of face-to-face negotiations in Paris, a slimmer but still-troubled draft of a global climate agreement was released on Wednesday, revealing countries remain divided over several core issues. French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, who is chairing the talks, unveiled the latest draft that followed three days and nights of backroom negotiations aimed at breaking some of the thorniest problems. Foremost among them is who shoulders the cost of moving the world to a low-carbon energy...

NYSE Post: This new climate change draft has been in the works since 2011, where many are optimistic although in a more cautious tone, after delegates finally accepted this draft. Many disagreements remain, nearly all related to defining the obligations and expectations of rich and poor countries, as well as those who don't fit neatly into either category. Nor is there any agreement on capping the rise in average global surface temperatures at a particular level. Many developing nations want it to be no more...
Lives depend on climate deal as islands bear brunt of health impact

Reuters: Small islands that bear the brunt of rising sea levels also face the greatest risk of diseases linked to a warmer planet, health leaders said on Saturday, as 13 million medical professionals added to the calls for a global climate pact. Hundreds of thousands more people will die every year from heat stroke and tropical illnesses unless negotiators in Paris can agree a strong global deal to cap global warming, the Global Climate and Health Alliance said. The alliance, formed at U.N. climate...

Draft climate change deal lowers greenhouse gases by 2050
2015-12-05 20:04:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Engadget: Earth just took a tentative step toward a new, comprehensive plan for improving the environment. Representatives from 195 countries have approved a draft UN climate change agreement that will ask all participants to lower their carbon dioxide emissions. There are still many, many details left to resolve ahead of a final deal (ideally signed next week), but the ultimate goal is to have countries reduce their greenhouse gas levels by 2050, and to eliminate emissions completely between 2060 and 2080....
