Duke Energy eyes Florida case on utilities and fracking

Florida Power & Light has asked regulators for permission to use ratepayer money to develop natural gas wells, and Duke is interested in how the case turns out. Duke Energy says it is following a Florida utility's proposal to get involved in natural gas fracking as Duke considers whether that would be an appropriate investment for it as well.

Accidental death slows solar project connections for Duke Energy Progress

The electrocution death of a Duke Energy Progress contractor is delaying connection efforts for some solar projects in North Carolina as the utility and its vendor try to determine what happened and what measures are needed to prevent future accidents. Duke spokesman Randy Wheeless says the utility has not suspended solar farm connections.
