Mechanical Design Engineer Engineering Support to Manufacture

As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will be providing support the Manufacturing team and focusing on Concession designs and nonconformances. This means the role is varied and tackles problems and designs that are out of the usual. Were looking for someone who has strong design experience with nonconformances concession design experience. You will be joining a team of 5 within a much larger department, where there is the opportunity to progress your career UK and company wide. The successful candidate will need to gain UK Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. The development of design solutions and repair schemes for nonconformances generated during the design, manufacture and test of spacecraft structures and component parts under tight schedule constraints. Interfacing with project managers and other technical departments in order to optimise the technical solutions and resources, and to ensure that all project and qualification requirements for those related items and systems are met. Presenting and justifying design concessions at internal and external customer reviews. Participating in reviews to ensure all applicable nonconformance and occurrence reports have been satisfactorily closed prior to spacecraft delivery to the launch site Assessing and recommending second closure actions relating to nonconformances to help prevent future similar issues. Identifying opportunities for involvement in innovation projects, to investigate and develop new design solutions. Focusing on On Quality, On Cost, On Time to minimise impact on the projects. Attending team meetings to closely follow the project progress and maintain close relations with the project team. Supporting the Team Leader with workpackage management activities as required. Raising significant issues to the project Responsible Engineers as necessary. Taking an active role in the identification of improvement and development activities. A Network Design Engineer is expected to be an expert in hisher field and thus be able to apply their knowledge to network design tasks and provide individual technical contributions within a design team. This role is for an individual with expertise and experience to Cisco CCNP certification level plus also knowledge of Juniper JUNOS and a demonstrable record of data network design experience The Network Design Engineer will work as a member of the Network Design Engineering team and be allocated to projects. Onboard Software Engineer Description Based at our new stateoftheart facilities in the UK, Saturn satellite manufacturing will be producing compact communications satellites 200Kg500Kg for Geostationary, MidEarth Orbit and LowEarth orbit systems for export around the world. Our unique payload of shaped antenna systems and programmable digital processor will allow full communications services to be provided inorbit at a costpoint which is a fraction of the cost of traditional communications satellites. To carry the communications payload we will be producing a new spacecraft platform in the UK, and utilising the latest techniques in automated engineering. Position Summary The Onboard software engineer will be responsible for all aspects of the OBC software design, programming and verification The OBC software engineer will be responsible for the implementation of onboard programs and routines and will have knowledge of the latest programming languages, data handling standards and implementation The software engineer will ensure that the OBC and memory design is sufficient to allow full control of the spacecraft and communications with adequate memory budgets and margins. Responsibilities Define the AOCS subsystem in terms of sensors, actuators and other equipments Define the AOCS algorithms and attitude routines for use in the onboard software Define the attitude correction and precise orbit determination including onboard GPS if necessary Work with the payload manufacturing team to ensure accurate pointing for the main antenna systems Liaise with the Program Manager for the procurement of commercial AOCS components and units Liaise with the OBC and data handling engineer for the subsystem IO definition and connectivity Milbus, Spacewire etc. Support the Lead Platform design Engineer on all aspects of the platform design pertaining to AOCS units and harness connections Liaise with the Propulsion engineers for propulsion control interfaces and pointing determination Ensure that all platform program documentation for the AOCS subsystem ICDs, diagrams, budgets etc. is produced. Qualifications and experience Minimum of 2 years professional experience in spacecraft Attitude and Orbit Control definition and implementation.
