BIO and Georgia Bio (GaBio) commended Governor Nathan Deal for signing Senate Bill 51, which creates pathway for substitution of interchangeable biologic medicines. Policies outlined in said bill align with BIO's principles on biologic substitution. Citing bill's merits and noting broad support, BIO's Jim Greenwood said that signing this bill into law adds Georgia to states taking "a leadership position" in allowing retail pharmacies to substitute interchangeable biologic medicines."

Christie vetoes bill directed at Exxon settlement spending

Gov. Chris Christie vetoed a bill Monday that would have required New Jersey to put the majority of its money from a much-criticized proposed pollution settlement with Exxon Mobil Corp. toward environmental cleanups. The state earlier this year announced a $225 million deal with the oil company over pollution around its refineries in Linden and Bayonne.

Feds foot bill for crossing upgrades

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and CSX Corp. have agreed to make safety upgrades at Marysville's two remaining unimproved public railroad crossings. The improvements will be made to the Raymond Road and Industrial Parkway railroad crossings, city Engineer Jeremy Hoyt said.
