Telia to cut jobs in several countries, trade union expects at least 100 reductions in Sweden

(Telecompaper) Telia Company is planning job cuts, according to the Swedish radio news service, Ekot, citing CEO Johan Dennelind. Cutbacks will apply in several countries, including Sweden, he said. The operator has met up with Swedish trade unions this morning to discuss which areas will be affected and how many workers, and Seko union vice-chairman Hans Gustavsson said he expects at least 100 Swedish jobs to go.

The week's performances varied between +20 percent for Forthnet (Greece) and -9.9 percent for Play (Poland). Microcaps aside, the performance range was from +6.1 percent for Iliad -5.8 percent for Vodafone.

Telenor shakes up executive team, with new CEOs for Norway and Sweden

(Telecompaper) Telenor Norway has shaken up its executive board, announcing a new CEO to succeed Berit Svendsen, who will be stepping down after seven years. Svendsen will be followed by Petter Furberg. In her position as head of the Scandinavia Cluster, she will be succeeded by Morten Karlsen Sorby. Bjorn Ivar Moen, currently the head of Telenor Norway's Mobile division, will be acting CEO of Telenor Norway with immediate effect until Furberg starts. He will remain in Telenor Norway's management team after that. And finally, Telenet Sweden will also get a new CEO with Kaaren Hilsen.
