Police in North Dakota can use drones armed with what are optimistically called "nonlethal weapons," thanks to the passage of House Bill 1328, which Gov. Jack Dalrymple signed into law this spring. The new law gives police the authority in a roundabout way: Section 5 states a law enforcement agency may not authorize the use of an unmanned aerial vehicle armed with lethal weapons.

Falling at a rate of 2,500 feet a minute, the dropsonde - a Pringles can-sized contraption that has some resemblance of a used roll of paper towels - makes its way through Guillermo down to the ocean surface.

SINGAPORE: For the first time, a Singapore Airlines plane featuring a Singapore flag design will take part in the National Day Parade flypast. The Airbus A380 will fly over the Marina Bay area at the closing of the Vintage Parade segment of the show on Aug 9. The segment will also feature 20 Singapore Girls on trishaws, reminiscent of the airline's past advertisements.
