Michigan approves revisions to mine's water discharge permit

State regulators say they've approved revisions to a surface water discharge permit for the Eagle Mine and Humboldt Mill in the Upper Peninsula. The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality says Wednesday that the permit safeguards wetlands and the middle branch of the Escanaba River.

UK and France seek to develop new system to tackle underwater mines threat

Patriot Coal idles 2 W.Va. mines, eliminates 35 positions

School Of Mines Raises $1.4M Toward Oil, Gas Industry Effort

The South Dakota School of Mines & Technology has raised $1.4 million toward its effort to help meet demands for workers in the region's oil and gas industry. The public university in Rapid City announced the Energy Resources Initiative last year and says it will now search for a director.
