Oilfield firm donates $172M in software to School of Mines

Oilfield services company Schlumberger has donated $172 million worth of software to the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology to strengthen the school's energy resources initiative. The Houston-based company provides technology and other support services for the oil and gas industry in areas such as western North Dakota's oil patch.

Murray settles Consol's safety violations at W.Va. coal mines;...

Ohio-based Murray Energy Corp. has agreed to pay $3.3 million to settle safety violations at five West Virginia coal mines it bought from Cecil-based Consol Energy Inc. in 2013. The settlement resolves 1,753 violations incurred when Consol was still in charge of the mines.
