Space Robotics Operations Engineer

Overview The work will be performed onsite at ESTEC within the Directorate of the Human Spaceflight. The contractor will report to the head of the Robotics and Future Projects office, in the Directorate of the Human Spaceflight and Operations. The postholder will contribute in particular to the following areas Operations engineering for the European Robotic Arm and Meteron Multipurpose End To End Robotics Operations Network projects, and for future projects such as technology demonstrations on ISS Liaise with EAC, GCTC and RSC Energia for instructor and crew training issues, including maintenance of the ERA Astronaut Training Database ATD Software management andor rapid software prototyping for the projects in the office Logistics organisation for ERA integration and launch campaign, Meteron experiments and test campaigns in analogue sites field tests Support the development of specific qualification andor ISS flight demonstrations of technology items needed for human exploration Performance of system definition studies for future human exploration developments Support the Office and Division in other tasks as required. Specific qualification requirements University degree in Engineering. Experience in space operations. Knowledge of the International Space Station Programme. Robotics engineering knowledge. System and Software engineering experience. Capability to work in a team with other ESA organizations as well as with external partners. Candidates should be rigorous, have good communication skills and be able to transfer technical knowhow in a clear and concise manner. The post holder will be called upon to travel outside Europe e.g. Russia. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands Applicants must be eligible to obtain security clearance by their national security administration. Being already in possession of security clearance will be considered an asset for the selection. Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident. Location The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday. Training to improve efficiency and provide strength for future career are of course included. Aurora assist with relocation both with support and financially. Robotics Software System Engineer

For one of our main customers ESAESTEC, we are currently looking for a Robotics Software System Engineer, to provide support, to the ESTEC Telerobotics Haptics Laboratory. This position is related to the ongoing series of flight demonstrations onboard the International Space Station ISS. In order to demonstrate advanced technology for teleoperation of robotic systems on Ground from Space, the ESA Telerobotics Haptics Laboratory develops advanced haptic user interfaces for astronaut crew. For these devices, a range of highly customized subcomponents are being developed that require embedded software and hardware developments. Tasks and Responsibilities It is the primary purpose of this position of Robotics Software System Engineer, to support the HAPTICS series of flight experiments by contributing to the software development of the embedded systems and to the realtime control software of the novel haptic exoskeleton prototype of the project. The engineer in this role will be performing design and implementation of custom embedded sensoractuator system software, such as motor controller, analogue and digital sensor interface software and other more generic embedded system software for fieldbus level communication within haptic devices. Additionally, the engineer in this position will maintain and contribute to the development of the laboratories software framework for robotic control.
