Major U.S. airlines ban trophy hunters' shipments amid outrage over Cecil the lion

In the wake of the killing of Cecil, a beloved lion in Zimbabwe, by an American trophy hunter, three of the largest U.S. airlines have said they will no longer carry the spoils of such actions. Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines , which has the most flights to Africa of any U.S. airline, and United Airlines made similar announcements earlier on Monday , according to USA Today .

Hurricane Hunters fly through Guillermo, tropical storm expected to pass north of Big Island

On most flights, such a sound might spur concern for the average passenger, but on this flight of the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron the sound signals the beginning of data collection that will assist Central Pacific Hurricane Center forecasters in narrowing the cone of uncertainty as Guillermo approaches the Hawaiian Islands. Falling at a rate of 2,500 feet a minute, the dropsonde - a Pringles can-sized contraption that has some resemblance of a used roll of paper towels - makes its way through Guillermo down to the ocean surface.
