The Salvation Army is providing a Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets to anyone in need and toys for children ages 0-17. To receive a basket, bring an NV Energy bill, income verification, and identification for each household member and register from 1 to 3:45 p.m. Nov. 6 and Dec. 3 at the Salvation Army, 661 Colorado St. Volunteers also are needed to help the Salvation Army register families and host other holiday events.

Wipro to provide 35,000 books to needy children in North America

Washington, Oct 9: India's leading global IT company Wipro has said it will provide new books to tens of thousands of children in need across five cities in North America. For this it has entered into a tie up with First Book, a non-profit social enterprise.

Record-setting effort to feed the needy

About 150 company volunteers lined metal tables to pack meals at the Feed My Starving Children facility and filled 342 boxes with "Manna Packs," the proprietary nutritional supplements, during a two-hour stint. That represents the equivalent of 73,872 meals to be distributed to malnourished children worldwide.
