(Telecompaper) The 20 December vote for the control of the board of Telecom Italia should clarify the future direction of the company and lead to greater investment in the domestic market, said Telecom Italia CEO Marco Patuano in an interview in the Wall Street Journal. "If we get a strong backing [at the shareholders' meeting], we can pursue our strategy with greater clarity," said Patuano, adding that Telecom Italia must invest heavily in infrastructure and get away from "pure price competition."
