Chromebooks May Get Avalanche of Android Apps

Google appears to be on the verge of executing a long-speculated plan to integrate Google Play's vast collection of more than a million Android apps into the Chrome operating system. A series of screen shots recently posted on Reddit show Chrome OS users able to access the Google Play store on a Chromebook. Users were able to find extensive references to ARC, or App Runtime for Chrome, embedded in the source code.

French soldiers on training exercise 'killed in Alps during avalanche'

The soldiers were taking part in a military exercise at the time of the tragedy earlier today, according to the BBC. They were among a group of 50 soldiers who were skiing near to the resort of Valfrejus, the Agence France Presse adds.

Suited for applications with 400–1,100 nm wavelength, Silicon Avalanche photodiodes (Si APDs) are optical detectors that come in hermetic TO Cans and feature internal gain mechanism, rise times as low as 300 psec, and high sensitivity in NIR region. Optical sensitivity peak is optimized for 800 or 905 nm, and standard versions are available with 200, 500, and 800 µm active diameter. Additional characteristics include 80–200 V breakdown voltage and frequency response up to 1 GHz.
