Reuters: French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius launched a round of global climate talks in Geneva on Sunday and warned that world security, as well as the environment, depended on their success. ARM acquires IoT security specialist Offspark

(Telecompaper) ARM announced the acquisition of Offspark, a developer of security software for the Internet of Things. Based in the Netherlands, Offspark specializes in IoT communications security and its PolarSSL technology is already deployed in a wide variety of devices including sensor modules, communication modules and smartphones. ARM said that Offspark's software will help developers using the ARM mbed platform to design and build IoT products with a high level of security and software cryptography. No financial details of the takeover were disclosed. PolarSSL is an embedded Transport Layer Security (TLS) solution. It will form the core of the ARM mbed communication security and software cryptography strategy and will be rebranded as ARM mbed TLS. The technology will remain open source and will be made available to developers for commercial use. It complements the Cryptobox technology of mbed OS that enables secure execution and storage. ARM will release mbed OS under an Apache 2.0 license which will include mbed TLS, Thread, and other key technologies toward the end of 2015. The release of mbed TLS 1.3.10, is now available under GPL and to existing PolarSSL customers on polarssl.org.
