As natural light filtered through the windows of the new Nordstrom at Mayfair mall, stylish employees hung sparklis ing pairs of earrings on jewelry racks - last minute touches before the fashion retailer's much anticipated grand opening Oct. 23. For fashionistas in the Milwaukee area, Christmas is coming early with the store's 10 a.m. Oct. 23 opening date. Gone are the days of traveling to Chicago for designer apparel, accessories, footwear and beauty products from Nordstrom; the 144,000-square-foot location in Wauwatosa is a "hometown store" for shoppers, said store manager Elena Mallios.

Husband, wife injured in mall shooting sue owners, claim they ignored crime warnings

A western Pennsylvania couple who were shot at a suburban Pittsburgh mall are suing the mall's owners, claiming they ignored warnings about increased violence and gang activity. Seventeen-year-old Tarod Thornhill, of Penn Hills, is accused of shooting three people in Macy's at the Monroeville Mall about 15 miles east of Pittsburgh on Feb. 7. Forty-nine-year-old Tom Singleton and his 48-year-old wife, Mary Grace, were among the victims.

84,000 square foot home decor store to open at Manassas Mall

The new store will sit in the old JC Penney location, and will take up 84,000 square feet of floor space. The Manassas store will be the fourth in Virginia.
