Job description EDRS European Data Relay System is a satellite based high data rate optical communication system for relaying user data received from low earth orbit LEO satellites via geostationary satellites directly to the ground for further distribution. The system consists of the space segment two geostationary satellites and the ground segment. The first GEO satellite EDRSA has been launched January 2016 and the second GEO satellite is planned for third quarter 2017. Kaband intersatellite links are supported alongside with the optical communication capacity. A Kaband based service will be provided to the International Space Station from late 2017 onwards. Future system evolution will expand the EDRS service range to manned and unmanned aeronautical application. EDRS is a PPP program between ESA and Airbus. Airbus CIS is the prime contractor and responsible for the management and implementation of the programme and the subsequent provision of the data relay service to ESA and other customers over a period of minimum 15 years. The operation of the system and the corresponding provision of the data relay service is done through the EDRS ground segment consisting of primary and backup mission operation centre MOC primary and backup satellite control centre SCC payload control centre DPCC four ground stations communication network The primary mission operation centre is located at Airbus Ottobrunn. Tasks As a Verification Validation Engineer for Operations Products, you are responsible for the validation of flight procedures. Your activities will be performed in close cooperation with system engineering, spacecraft prime and operations contractor. The holder of this position will be located at Ottobrunn and reports to the head of the engineering team. Regular shift work is not required with exception of InorbitTest support. The tasks consist of Verification of flight procedures on spacecraft simulator Verification of telecommand and telemetry database Verification of ground and flight crypto procedures Support of operational readiness reviews Support to LEOP and IOT activities Support to user commissioning and final acceptance Technical assessment of nonconformances, discrepancies and waivers Support of the EDRS quality management process Requirements Academic degree Masters degree in Aerospace or other related Engineering Years of experience 35 Level of English Advanced Technical knowledge Profound knowledge of space systems Experience with Unix and Windows based operating systems Ability to document the own work according to the standards of ESA programs Programming skills TCL, Java, Python are considered an asset Ability to operate in a multinational team organisation Work style characterised by autonomy, proactive behaviour and cooperation Good communication and interpersonal skills Experience with ESA and ESA standards Quick learner Desirable knowledge German language skills are advantageous

The following tasks are required Review and Update of Test Specifications Review and update the Test Specifications for MTG GS verification for the activities planned in particular verify The completeness of the test specification against the extent of testing foreseen in the GSIVP and GSVCD Consistency if the test specifications with respect to the relevant objectives, ie functions, interfaces, requirements to be verified, and with respect to the configuration to be used, including facilities, MMEs, test tools, test data, relevant environments and infrastructure elements.
