South Irvington Sewer Extension Project Update: October 30, 2015

Environmental Services is constructing 1,060 feet of public sewer pipe and 460 feet of sewer laterals that will provide 17 properties direct and independent connections to the public sewer. This work is part of the City of Portlands effort to provide residents with sewer connections that comply with city code.

Soaring Onslow rents linked to LNG gas project force council to build more staff housing

The Shire of Ashburton says it is having to build more staff accommodation in the Pilbara town of Onslow, due to soaring rents. The small coastal community in WA's north-west is experiencing growing pains linked to Chevron's $30 billion Wheatstone liquefied natural gas project.

Mt. Scott-Arleta and Woodstock Sewer Repair Project Update

Environmental Services is designing a project to repair or replace up to 17,000 feet, or over three miles, of public sewers in the Mt. Scott, Arleta, and Woodstock neighborhoods. Many of the existing sewer pipes are 85 years old and deteriorating due to age. This project is one of many that will protect the public and the environment by reducing the possibility of sewage releases to homes, businesses and streets.

Southwest Ventilation Project Update: October 30, 2015

Environmental Services is working on a project to reduce sewer odors and increase the capacity of the Southwest Parallel Interceptor sewer system. The project is designed to accommodate current needs and potential growth. Since February, the contractor has installed about 1,000 feet of 24-inch concrete pipe and 6 manholes along SW Taylors Ferry Road, and 2 manholes on SW Virginia Avenue.
