AT&T launches Aio Wireless no-contract brand

2013-05-09 16:31:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) AT&T has launched a new mobile brand called Aio Wireless in an attempt to compete with the growing number of 'unlimited' no-contract offers on the US market. Aio will roll out in multiple markets across the US over the next year, with an initial launch in Houston, Orlando and Tampa. Pronounced "A-O", the brand name is based on Aio's brand promise of "simply, delightfully, more", according to the company. Customers will be able to choose from three price plans, each with unlimited voice and text and data at top speed of 250MB, 2GB or 7GB. Aio said it will offer 4G download speeds of up to 4Mbps, with the speed reduced after using up the monthly allowance. Customers can add additional data for USD 10 per GB. Subscription prices range from USD 35-70 per month, depending on the area and taxes. Customers can choose from a range of smartphones, tablets and feature phones from manufacturers including Apple, Samsung, Nokia and ZTE at one-off prices, or they can bring a compatible, unlocked device for activation on the Aio network.
