Initially the route was flown by a Boeing 747 300 aircraft twice weekly.

Southwest Airlines will no longer offer direct flights to Dallas, Chicago

Next week those wanting to make a direct Southwest flight to Chicago and Dallas will have to book through another airline. In October Southwest Airlines announced it would discontinue those flights and add a daily nonstop service to St. Louis and Phoenix from Wichita Eisenhower National Airport.

Willie Walsh, chief executive of International Airlines Group and a staunch opponent of London Heathrow airport's proposed third runway, said Hong Kong's third runway should not be pre-funded. The boss of the parent group of British Airways told the South China Morning Post in an interview in Hong Kong on Thursday that there is "an overwhelming case" for Hong Kong to have a third runway, but added, "I don't agree with pre-funding."
