Zimbabwe: Foot-and-Mouth Disease Spreads

The livestock industry is under threat from the foot-and-mouth disease which has hit most parts of Masvingo, Midlands and spread to most parts of Matabeleland South and lower parts of Manicaland. Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development deputy minister responsible for Livestock Production, Cde Paddy Zhanda confirmed the outbreak on Thursday.

South African Reserve Bank clears EcoCash Zimbabwe transfers

(Telecompaper) The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) has given Econet Wireless the green light to start cross-border mobile money remittances to Zimbabwe via EcoCash, ANA reported. Expatriot Zimbabweans will now be able to send money back home to EcoNet mobile money wallets in Zimbabwe. The mobile company said it would take several weeks for the service to be fully established, adding that it would be up and running by the end of July. The approval took over eighteen months to secure.
