Kenya's analogue switch off to begin with Nairobi in December 2013

The Kenyan government has announced that Nairobi will be the first to switch over to digital TV broadcasting services on December 13 in a phased switch-off plan scheduled to end on June 30, 2014.

Brazil to move final analogue switchover to 2018

Brazil has announced that it has updated its plan for analogue television shut down. The schedule will now begin in March 2015 and end in 2018. The original plan was that the shutdown of the analogue service and the migration to fully digital would occur in 2016.

Bakom phases out cable analogue must-carry TV obligation

(Telecompaper) Switzerland's Federal Office of Communications (Bakom) has announced that the obligation for cable networks to broadcast certain TV programmes in analogue is being phased out. Because the vast majority of the Swiss population use digital services, the broadcasting obligation will be limited to digital services from 2015. The amended Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC) Ordinance comes into force on 01 June.
