The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation will hold a hearing to consider a request to establish coordinated national litigation against the manufacturers of Viagra. The Judicial Panel is a group of federal judges who meet every other month to consider requests for the establishment of multidistrict litigation for cases involving multiple plaintiffs, which usually include drug and medical device product liability claims, class actions, securities lawsuits, and claims involving mass accidents or natural disasters.

Subpoenas served to Snyder, MDEQ in class-action lawsuits filed in water crisis

Subpoenas for records were served to Gov. Rick Snyder, the governor's office and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality on Jan. 25. The records include emails, text messages or other documents sent or received by Snyder, his staff, or the emergency managers Darnell Early, Michael Brown, Gerald Ambrose or Edward Kurtz relating to the Flint River as a water source from Jan. 1, 2011 to the present. One of the lawsuits was filed in a federal court in November.

Judge sets mediation deadlines in Exxon lawsuits

A Faulkner County circuit judge mandated parties involved in lawsuits against ExxonMobil groups go through mediation in hopes to resolve outstanding issues. Circuit Judge Charles "Ed" Clawson set deadlines for mediation in six outstanding cases against the gas giant in a pretrial hearing on Tuesday, Dec. 30. The lawsuits stem from an incident in March 2013 where a 22-foot seam in the Pegasus pipeline ruptured and spilled roughly 3,190 barrels of oil near Mayflower and Lake Conway, causing 22 homes to be evacuated.
