Vodafone leads fall in Dutch mobile service revenues in Q1, Tele2 grows market share

(Telecompaper) Dutch mobile service revenues fell 7.0 percent year-on-year to EUR 941 million in the first quarter of 2017, hurt by regulatory effects as well as continued price pressure and tough competition. Compared to the fourth quarter of 2017, revenues fell 3.0 percent, according to the latest quarterly report from Telecompaper.

European Commission to investigate proposed acquisition of Tele2 NL by T-Mobile

The European Commission has opened an in-depth investigation to assess the proposed acquisition of Tele2 NL by T-Mobile NL under the EU Merger Regulation. The Commission is concerned that the merger could lead to higher prices, and reduce choice and innovation for customers in the Netherlands.

Tele2, Telia plan shutdown of 3G network in Sweden

(Telecompaper) Tele2 and Telia said they agreed to accelerate the transition from 3G to 4G by gradually phasing out the 3G network in their Swedish network joint venture Sunab. At present, the 3G network has over 6,000 base stations, and these will gradually be phased out or reused in other network expansions, which will result in cost and energy savings.

T-Mobile NL files for clearance of Tele2 takeover, EC to work with ACM on case

(Telecompaper) T-Mobile Netherlands has filed with the European Commission competition authorities for regulatory approval of its proposed takeover of Tele2 Netherlands, as first announced in December. The Comission set a deadline of 12 June for taking a decision on the deal, which will leave Tele2 with a minority stake in the merged operators. The Dutch regulator ACM announced that it will work together with the Commission on the merger review process.

Tele2 lift sales 5%, EBITDA 7% in Q1 pulled up by Baltics, Kazakhstan, Croatia

(Telecompaper) Tele2 reported net sales for the first quarter up 5 percent, also like-for-like, to SEK 6.22 billion, while EBITDA lifted 7 percent to SEK 1.63 billion, with results again getting a boost from operations in Kazakhstan and the Baltics, as well as from Croatia. The company said it will keep its quarterly dividend at SEK 4 per share but has announced a new shareholder remuneration and leverage policy as it looks forward to its merger with Com Hem.
