Rackspace successfully courts Tinder as hosting client

Since Rackspace Hosting added the popular matchmaking mobile app Tinder as a client for its cloud hosting services, Tinder has seen the app's performance and stability quadruple, said Tinder's Chief Technology Officer Ryan Ogle in a news release. Ogle credits the use of ObjectRocket, the database-as-a-service platform acquired by Rackspace in 2013, for the improvement.

Local technology startup HappAppily is developing a social media tool for businesses to share up-to-date employee contact information with customers. The company was founded earlier this year by Jon Stolmeier , a San Antonio native and MIT graduate who currently works at Rackspace as an account manager.

Rackspace targeting Latin America for latest expansion

In a conference call with investors after the release of its fourth-quarter earnings report, Rackspace CEO Taylor Rhodes said Latin America will be the biggest international push for the cloud hosting company in 2015. "We've been building our Latin American business for the past 24 months, and now it is time to go bigger there," Rhodes said.
