Finland's UPM-Kymmene will reduce paper production at four plants in Europe, cutting 550 jobs because of declining demand as readers switch to digital devices, the company said on Thursday. UPM aims to save 150 million euros annually by the end of 2015, partly by closing 800,000 tonnes of publication paper capacity.

Panattoni, Newport Beach, Calif., was selected by Kellogg among several national developers to develop the 134-acre parcel of land south of Young Touchstone on Smith Lane.

IT consulting firm Cognizant Technology Solutions has been awarded an incentive grant from North Carolina to expand its work force across the state, adding 500 high-paying jobs. And 100 of those jobs will be in Charlotte, where the company plans to open a new IT delivery and operations center , representing a $1.4 million investment through 2018.
